Heavenly Dwelling

Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.  Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked.  For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.  Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

– 2 Corinthians 5:1-5

As a believer in Jesus Christ (saved, baptized, and filled with the Holy Spirit), we have been given a deposit guaranteeing that we will be clothed with our heavenly dwelling!  Isn’t that Amazing!!  The Lord has given us the Holy Spirit as a pledge or promise of 100 percent secure assurance that we will be with him in heaven!  Now that is Exciting!!  That is how important it is to know that you are filled up with the Holy Spirit!  While we are in our earthly bodies we groan and yearn for our heavenly dwelling because we are burdened here and have to go through many struggles as believers in Jesus!  So we no longer set our sights on this temporary world and everything in it (planning on staying here forever), instead we set our sights on heaven and being there with Jesus for eternity!  In this world we are faced with mortality, but in heaven we have reached immortality…and we all desire to reach immortality with the Lord so that we can finally rest in him!  We desire for our mortal bodies to be swallowed up in everlasting life with Jesus!  That is the promise you have if you have the Holy Spirit living inside of you!!  You have been marked by the Holy Spirit for the day of redemption when your mortality will finally be swallowed up in life and you will enter into your heavenly dwelling!
